general informationwelcomeThe International Wroclaw Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility was born in 1972 owing to the initiative and dedicated involvement of a few enthusiasts from the Wroclaw University of Technology and the National Institute of Telecommunications (Wroclaw Branch) who decided to organize an international conference devoted to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in Wroclaw. In that hard time of rather cold relations between West and East, there was no such the event organized on a regular basis in Europe divided by the iron curtain. In its early years, the Wroclaw EMC Symposium gathered participants mainly from Central and Eastern Europe, but it quickly became a natural bridge between the two "different worlds". Now, every two years, the Wroclaw EMC Symposium gathers people from around the world interested in the development of science and art in EMC. Since its beginning, the Symposium has been regularly held in Wroclaw - a 750 year old capital of Lower Silesia, and hosted by the Wroclaw University of Technology. In 2006, after the 18th edition of Wroclaw EMC and 34 years of continuing success, the team managing the Symposium decided to re-examine a mission of Wroclaw EMC in its continuously evolving technical, economical, political environment with particular attention placed on the relevant changes on the European scene. After consultation with prominent representatives of EMC community, we finally concluded that the International Wroclaw Symposium and Exhibition on Electromagnetic Compatibility is near to fulfil its mission, and the upcoming 19th edition of the Wroclaw EMC Symposium in 2008 will be the last edition of this event in its hitherto existing form. Wroclaw EMC Symposium will celebrate its 20th edition, in 2010, by joining EMC Europe to form the biggest EMC conference in European Community. On behalf of the organizers, we have the honour and privilege to welcome you to the 19th edition of the International Wroclaw Symposium and Exhibition on Electromagnetic Compatibility, Wroclaw, June 11-13, 2008. This is the last chance to contribute to and taste the unique unforgettable atmosphere of this event in its present form. The 19th International Wroclaw Symposium and Exhibition on Electromagnetic Compatibility will host a one-day session on "Efficient use of orbit/spectrum by satellite systems" on 12th June 2008 (Thursday, 2nd conference day). Organized by ITU-R session is an open forum on spectrum access for satellite industry and whether technical progress in frequency sharing will complement or contradict regulatory and economical mechanisms in fostering the efficient use of this international resource.
